Hearing Prep & AI

Create briefs with AI

Request a LexMed-powered Prehearing Brief or Appeals Council (AC) Brief from a client’s detail page. Both products are billed a la carte per client and are generated by LexMed. The Prehearing Brief requires a completed LexMed medical chronology; the AC Brief requires an ALJ decision document.

Prehearing Brief

The Prehearing Brief is a hearing-prep document built from a LexMed medical chronology and your client’s case documents. It is only available as an add-on to the LexMed medical chronology.

Generate a Prehearing Brief

  1. Open the client record and select the Medical Chronology tab.

  2. In the LexMed panel, check the Prehearing Brief add-on.

  3. Click Generate Chronology (or Refresh if a chronology already exists) to submit the run.

  4. Wait for the medical chronology to finish. When the base run is complete, the Prehearing Brief unlocks automatically.

  5. View, download, or share the PDF and Word versions from the same panel.

Before a brief can be generated, the client’s documents must be fully downloaded and their Social Security number must be entered in the case record.

Fees

  • LexMed Medical Chronology: $50

  • Prehearing Brief add-on: $25 per brief

  • Chart Vision add-on: $25

  • First prehearing brief is free; subsequent briefs are billed per use

Appeals Council (AC) Brief

The AC Brief is a LexMed-powered post-decision appeal document created from an ALJ denial listed in the client’s documents. It includes a decision audit with error analysis and produces a ready-to-file brief.

Request an AC Brief

  1. Open the client record and select the Briefs tab.

  2. In the AC Brief panel, find the ALJ decision row in the audit table.

  3. Click Request AC Brief for the decision.

  4. Chronicle queues the audit. Processing takes 3–7 minutes and you will receive an email when it is complete.

  5. When finished, click View Brief to open the output, then download the PDF or Word version.

Fees

  • AC Brief: $100 per ALJ decision

  • First decision is free; subsequent decisions are billed per use

Permissions

Starting briefs requires the Start briefs permission, which is available to Staff, Manager, Admin, and Billing owner roles. For details, see View roles and permissions.

Common issues

The Prehearing Brief add-on is unavailable

Generate or refresh the LexMed medical chronology first. The add-on is only unlocked after the base chronology completes.

The Request AC Brief button is missing

Verify the client has an ALJ decision document in the Documents tab. AC Briefs can only be generated from existing denials.

The brief is not generating

Confirm the client’s SSN is entered and all documents have finished downloading. If the condition persists, contact Chronicle support.
