Understanding Comparisons
What the Numbers Mean
Approval Rate: Percentage of decisions that are fully or partially favorable to claimants.
Denial Rate: Percentage of decisions that are unfavorable.
Fully Favorable: Percentage of awards that grant full benefits from the alleged onset date.
Total Decisions: Number of cases decided in the fiscal year.
Important Caveats
Historical statistics don't predict individual outcomes. Each case is decided on its own merits.
Judges with different caseloads or case types may not be directly comparable. Volume matters—a judge with fewer cases may show more variance.
See our methodology page for data sources and calculation details.
